Preparing for Surgery

The Tri-City Regional Surgery Center is committed to maintaining an expert, caring staff that consistently provides patients with a positive experience, convenience and a personal approach to surgerical encounters.

Your physician or our anesthesiologist will determine which tests are necessary for you. These may include blood test, an electrocardiogram (EKG) and/or a chest x-ray.

Please be sure to tell the lab that you are having surgery at Tri-City Regional Surgery Center so that results will come directly to us and your physicians office without delay.

A nurse from Tri-City Regional Surgery Center will contact you prior to surgery to discuss operative instructions and obtain a brief health history.

The Day of Surgery

Make sure you follow your instructions concerning medication, eating, and drinking. Most patients will be told not to eat or drink anything -- including water -- after midnight. However, you may take a sip of water with medication if your surgeon or anesthesiologist says it is permissible.

On the day of your operation, you should wear loose-fitting clothes that are easy to remove. All jewelry and other valuables should be left at home. You should wear no makeup.

Two people may accompany you to the Tri-City Regional Surgery Center and go through the admitting process with you and stay until you are ready for the operation. Parents of children having surgery may accompany their child through admitting. If you are under 18 years old, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please arrive one (1) hour prior to your scheduled surgery to allow us time to prepare you for your procedure.
